The Tenzanese New Religions (新宗敎 Shinshūkyō) are a diverse wave of religious movements that emerged mainly from the mid-9th century S.C. onward, especially after the Honei Restoration. Blending elements mostly of Shimbutsudo and folk beliefs (and sometimes Soterianity or Eurysian esotericism), these groups typically center around charismatic founders and the promise of personal salvation or worldly benefits. They are also known to often emphasize healing, spiritual power, or moral reform.
